Gingersnap History

Gingersnaps, also known as ginger biscuits, are traditionally crispy and often make a snapping sound when eaten!

Gingersnaps have a long history in England and Germany. It’s believed that gingersnaps were first prepared by medieval monks in the early 13th century.

Molasses was used in place of refined sugar because it was less expensive.Ginger is derived from the ginger root and is native to parts of South Asia. European settlers coming to America brought ginger and molasses and began baking gingersnaps in the English colonies.

Ginger offers health benefits which include anti-inflammatory properties, helps treat nausea and fight heart disease. Can we get a round of applause- a cookie with health benefits!!
